Seventy-one inches of ramp, so an older dog stops jumping down out of the truck.

Most dog ramps are too short. A stubby ramp against a tailgate makes a steep climb, and a steep climb is the thing you were trying to avoid. This one is 71 inches long and 19.5 wide, which gives a gentler angle into an SUV or a truck bed and enough width that a dog doesn't have to think about its feet. The surface is a dense carpet rather than sandpaper or bare plastic, so it grips when wet and doesn't chew up pads. It folds in four and carries by a padded handle.

Two honest limits. It weighs 20 pounds, and if you're lifting it in and out several times a day that adds up. And length is only half the equation — the angle depends on how high your tailgate sits. Measure from the ground to your load height before ordering: the taller the vehicle, the steeper this gets, and on a lifted truck it may be steeper than an arthritic dog will use.
